Chit Chat Cafe was my contribution to the Peripheral Vision group show at Sheppard
Gallery curated by
Brian Porray.
Part performance, part anarchy, the installation consisted of a cafe where food and
drink was served under an impending environment of kinetic works. While dining at
Chit Chat Cafe, metal chunks suspended in ice would become free of the melting ice
and fall into vacuous areas of thrift store plates. The cacophony was heightened by the insistence that
upon completion of one's meal the patrons must go within a confined area and break
their plate.
To this day I can't tell you if there was a concept to it all. But in the end I learned
how to build tables, chairs, and stairs for cheap and it
was a lot of damn fun!
