In Memory of Margaret Kilgallen
September 2005
Painting
Carson City, NV
Made possible by the
Capital City Arts Initiative.
Using native typography I created a 20' x 360' mural over a three-day residency
period. During which I camped in the adjacent field and used over 21 gallons of paint.
While working I got to know the people who used the space, which turned out to be
a lot of kids with working parents and no dough for babysitters.
The main attraction
of the space was a homemade BMX where all the neighborhood kids would ride unitl
their parents returned home from their 9 to 5's. Since I saw the landscape as
an escape for the kids I tailored the message to reference their experience.
The wall was painted over by the city within the year.
