I am Shelter is an on-going series of paintings driven by the comfort of architecture.
The works pull from my favorite features of neighborhood buildings then uses them routinely
and iconicly. Roll-up gates, windows, and doors give way to a slew of comicly illustrated
limbs toting ridiculous tattoos, personal notes, and the drippy evidence of gestural painting
to HOT 97. The images are generally placed back onto the same architecture that inspired
their creation.
"I'll build a house inside of you.
I'll go in through the mouth. I'll draw three figures on your heart.
One of them will be me as a boy. One of them will be me.
One of them will be me watching you run."
