Small Worlds

New York City
Wheat Paste + Social Networking Site
Small Worlds is a test of how far people will go to jump through
the hoops of the NYC real estate world.
Following in the vein of street art I began
installing miniature doors at street level in various places around New York City. The
doors began to take on a life of their own once installed and even grew in popularity on
the internet. After placing up a few dozen of the doors I posted an image of the door on
craigslist with it's precise address. I described the place and even offered to rent it.
In the posting the value of the rent was created based off of the size of the actual wheat
pasted door multiplied by the real estate value in that particular area. Due to the impossibility of
renting a space that exists as a flat piece of paper the project
more or less is a representation of the absurd value of property in NYC.
